The Gospel: Simple, Yet Profound

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the most glorious truth a person can ever come to know and believe. It is so simple a child can understand it, yet so profound that eternity will not exhaust the depths of its glory and wonder.

There is so much that can be said. Here, however, we can only hope to set forth some of the essential aspects of the gospel. We pray that through believing on the Lord Jesus Christ you will begin to discover and enjoy the depth of God's love for sinners.

There is one true God that exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This God created man in His image and likeness and for His own glory.

Instead of enjoying God, being humble, grateful and living for His glory, all of us rebelled. We acted arrogantly and chose to live for ourselves. The Bible calls this sin. The Bible also tells us that sin brings upon us God's righteous judgment; the sentence of death and hell.

Because God is gracious, loving and kind, it is in His heart to forgive sinners. But because God is also holy and just, He cannot forgive any sinner without sin being punished and His holy law being vindicated and upheld. God is righteous and His law must stand, yet He is merciful and desires to forgive sinners. This is why God sent His Son.

This is what the person and work of Jesus Christ are all about. Jesus Christ lived a perfect, holy and sinless life. Then He suffered and died as a sacrifice for sin. His life and death make it possible for God to be righteous and merciful to those who have faith in Jesus.

This is the gospel. We have sinned and deserve death and hell. God in mercy offers forgiveness and eternal life in His Son, Jesus Christ. We receive Jesus Christ by faith and in receiving Him we receive the benefits of His life and death.

We trust you see the simplicity of the message. We also hope you understand how profound it really is. Your response to this simple message will determine where you spend eternity.

If we can help you in any way to understand and believe the gospel, please don't hesitate to contact us. A free booklet entitled "What Is a Biblical Christian?" will be sent upon your request.
